I’m Back :)

Hi Everyone! I’m back after a long break! Honestly the break wasn’t due to any major life change, just bad time management so that’s on me and I take full responsibility for it (sorry!!). I’m definitely going to try to improve on this and be more consistent! Anyways with the whole quarantine going on, it’s really made me reflect on how I spend my free time since I’ve been staying at home for the most part and found I have a lot more “me” time. I am very thankful that I’m able to work from home and understand this is a true privilege. It’s honestly a difficult time and I think we’re all just trying to get by as best as we can. I truly appreciate the essential workers who are keeping everything running for us and ensuring we’re taken care of, even at their own risk. Truly, thank you for all your help (*virtual appreciation applause*)!

Personally, this period has made me re-evaluate how I spend my time and has made me want to use it towards something I’m passionate about such as writing and developing content I really care about. Which means, I’ll definitely be adding a lot more blog posts!

The Black Lives Matter Movement is something monumental and hopefully has opened people’s eyes into taking action and educating themselves continuously regarding it. This is something that doesn’t end today or tomorrow, so it’s important to continue having these conversations and educating oneself. These are a few things I’ve been doing personally, and hopefully this gives you all ideas on ways to contribute as well:

  1. Signing petitions/ sending emails to your local government to invoke change
  2. Donating – Personally, this is where I chose to donate after doing research Black Lives Global Movement
  3. Support Black Owned Businesses – I’ve been on the hunt for a good Vitamin C serum and have heard about Hyper Skin, which has received amazing reviews from companies like Vogue and Man Repeller. Will be pre-ordering soon!
  4. Educating yourself – My friend’s and I’s next book club read is The Vanishing Half. I’ve heard multiple reviews regarding how powerful this novel is, which follows the journey of two twin sisters who diverge as one lives as a black woman, and the other as a white woman.

In my opinion, most importantly, be open minded and continue to actually make changes based on what you’ve learnt. Don’t let it end here! Now is a time for us to grow.
